Brave New Alps are Bianca Elzenbaumer and Fabio Franz. We work together since 2005 and graduated in 2006 from the Faculty of Design and Art of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano in South Tyrol.
In 2007 Bianca gained a Postgraduate Certificate in International Peacekeeping and Conflict Management from the Faculty of Educational Science of the University of Bologna.
In July 2010, we graduated from a 2 year MA in Communication Art & Design at the Royal College of Art in London.

We do communication design.
We are interested in the cultural value of design and in its capacity to question the realities we are part of.
Usually the aim and scope of any of our works evolves during an extended inhabitation of the specific place and time of the project. This allows for a careful and exact evaluation of the condition, which then informs our response to it.
Ideally, with our response we aim to create a situation or an object, which actively suggests a change in the modes of thinking about and operating in this specific condition.

In 2007 we published the alternative travel guide Decode Jerusalem. In 2008 we worked on projects for the initiative »MUSEION
at the EURAC tower
« and for Manifesta 7
in Franzensfeste-Fortezza. Furthermore, in 2008 we collaborated with Alessandro Petti, Sandi Hilal and Eyal Weizman on the project Decolonizing Architecture
in Bethlehem. In 2010 we initiated Department 21
, an experimental interdisciplinary student-led workspace at the Royal College of Art.
